The Solar Home Lighting project in villages of Rajasthan is currently running slow pace due to lack of funds as donations raised through the Global Giving has fully utilised. We on behalf of the SED and on prospective beneficiaries’ behalf appeal to all of you who has supported our work and helped poor rural people to have light in their homes to donate more money. As journey is long and we have to take more homes this year.
So far, we have installed 55 solar lighting systems at the homes of poor people in villages of Digod, Kasampura, Parlia, Nayagaon and Mundla of Kota district in Rajasthan. They are installed free of cost and collection of $ 5 per month from each beneficiaries has been started. Till date, we have collected $ 1555. Thismoney was utlised to buy 5 more Soar Lighting Systems.
During the reporting period two training programmes for 10 youths for providing training in repair and maintenance were organised in these villages. Presently people are having 7 to 10 hours light daily depending upon the number of bulbs used at a time. Mean while we have received complaints from 15 households for non–performing of devices and same were attended and rectified.
The SED through its GVK developed demonstration centre to step up our efforts to reach as many villagers as possible. We have identified 120 more beneficiaries from 5 villages, that we can stall solar systems. As funds are exhausted we are unable to cater the demand from new beneficiaries and sought new donations from all of you.
The SED staff and all the beneficiaries say thank you very much for your support and help in enlighten life of poor women & children in this desert region.
