The Solar Home Lighting project in villages of Rajasthan has been progressing at slow pace due to paucity of funds. We on behalf of the SED and on prospective beneficiaries’ behalf thanks to all of you who has supported our work and helped us in our efforts to provide lights in the life of underprivileged people by donating money.
So far, we have installed 93 solar lighting systems at the homes of poor people in villages of Digod, Kasampura, Parlia, Nayagaon and Mundla of Kota district in Rajasthan. They are installed free of cost and collection of $ 5 per month from each beneficiaries has been going on. Till date, we have collected $ 3120. This money was utlised to buy 5 more Soar Lighting Systems.
During the reporting period one training programme was organized for 10 youths for providing training in repair and maintenance in village Parlia of Kota district of Rajasthan. Presently people are having 7 to 10 hours light daily depending upon the number of bulbs used at a time. Meanwhile we have received complaints from 23 households for non–performing of devices and same were attended and rectified.
The SED through its GVK developed demonstration centre to step up our efforts to reach as many villagers as possible. The outlet called “Digod Organics” set up during last reporting period is doing well in popularizing the product among rural people. We have identified 152 more beneficiaries from these five villages, that we can stall solar systems.
The Global Giving knows the strength in numbers and small donations add up to BIG change. That’s why they are running the Little by Little Matching Campaign!
