ACTIVITY:
Create Foundation utilised the funds to start 2 classes in Mumbai reaching out to 58 students from marginalized backgrounds to impart soft skill training. The initial activity was an interactive assessment with the students to plan a soft skill program suitable to their needs .
The goal of these activities was to build creativity and confidence in the students. The students were hesitant at first, however, within the next few classes they gained confidence and were excitedly looking forward to the next session.
Topics covered in the classes were speech exercises, enunciation, vowels, pronunciation, age appropriate poems, and usage of correct English words. Using the medium of the creative arts, the children participated in role play, in situations like at the market, acting in an ensemble, theatre games like “Continue the story”, “Form shapes with your bodies” etc. bringing out the ‘actor’ in them.
Photographs of the session are attached.
Story of a student:
A student in class was shy and withdrawn in his first class. Through our program and exposure to role play and creative games he is now a little more open and responsive in class. He soon excitedly exclaimed, “Didi, I want to do the play again!!!” We are sure that after the whole program he will be confident and inspired to take a more responsible role in school and this will reflect in his studies too.
