Soap making for Health and income in rural school

By Jawanghe Joseph | Project Leader

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are excited to share another update on the progress of our soap making and hygiene empowerment project for vulnerable children in Uganda. Your support continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of many children and families in our community.

Through this initiative, children are being trained in liquid soap production using affordable and locally available materials. The project not only teaches practical vocational and entrepreneurship skills, but also promotes proper hygiene and sanitation practices among school children.

One of the most encouraging outcomes we have witnessed is that children are now taking soap back home for use with their families. This has greatly contributed to improved cleanliness and hygiene practices both at school and within their households. Many children are becoming ambassadors of hygiene in their communities by encouraging regular handwashing and cleanliness at home.

In addition, the soap produced is helping schools maintain better sanitation while extra products sold within nearby communities generate small income to support vulnerable children with school supplies and educational needs.

We are also grateful to report that the support we received, including our first donation through the GlobalGiving platform and additional contributions from supporters outside the platform, has helped us successfully establish our solid soap making project. This new step is expanding learning opportunities and creating even greater impact for children and women involved in the program.

Achievements So Far
  • Children trained in liquid soap production skills
  • Improved hygiene and handwashing practices in schools and homes
  • Children taking soap home to support family hygiene and cleanliness
  • Increased awareness about sanitation within communities
  • Launch of a solid soap making project
  • Support provided toward vulnerable children’s educational needs

Challenges

Despite the progress, the project still requires additional support for:

  • Safety equipment such as gloves and protective materials
  • Production tools and testing equipment
  • More raw materials to meet growing demand
  • Expansion of training activities to reach more children

Looking Forward

Good Cause Foundation remains committed to expanding this initiative to benefit more vulnerable children and communities. We hope to strengthen both the liquid and solid soap making projects while continuing to empower children with practical life skills, confidence, and opportunities for a better future.

Appreciation

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our project and continues to stand with us. Your generosity, encouragement, and partnership are helping vulnerable children gain skills, improve hygiene, and build hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Together, we are creating lasting change in the lives of children and communities in Uganda.

With sincere gratitude,

Good Cause Foundation
