Our most recent Smash Out Skin Cancer Pickleball Tournament, held in support of the Sun Guardians Grant Program, was a smashing success!
Funds raised through the tournament will help support the 2027 Sun Guardians Grant Program, allowing us to continue expanding access to essential sun-protection resources for children and youth across Canada.
As we prepare to open the grant submission portal for the 2027 summer programs, we’re proud to reflect on the impact the program has already made.
After just two grant cycles, the Sun Guardians Grant Program has provided support to 66 organizations, including daycares, camps, early learning centres, food banks, and sports organizations. These initiatives have helped protect and educate more than 6,400 children about sun safety, giving them greater access to the resources they need to enjoy the outdoors safely.
Outcomes
The Sun Guardians Grant Program has significantly increased access to sun-protection resources for children participating in outdoor activities across Canada.
Through the distribution of sunscreen, shade structures, UV-protective clothing, and educational materials, participating organizations have been better equipped to implement sun-safe practices and create environments that support skin cancer prevention.
The continued support of our donors, sponsors, participants, and community partners makes this work possible. Together, we’re helping build a future where children can enjoy being active outdoors while developing healthy sun-safety habits that can last a lifetime.
