2024: new goals for out girls!

By Francesca Mannina | Fundraising Manager

In the slums of Nairobi, one of the poorest places in the world, human rights violations are commonplace. Girls face the challenge of extreme poverty every day among the 3 million inhabitants of the shantytowns, but that's not all.

Here is our agenda for 2024.

Objective: Address Gender Discrimination and Harmful Practices

Strategies:

Raise awareness about gender discrimination, female genital mutilation, early marriages, and pregnancies.

Implement educational programs to challenge harmful practices and promote gender equality.

Objective: Promote Menstrual Hygiene and Rights Awareness

Strategies:

Highlight the importance of menstrual hygiene as a fundamental right.

Educate girls on proper menstrual hygiene practices.

Collaborate with local communities to destigmatize menstruation and ensure access to hygienic products.

Objective: Combat Period Poverty and Gender-Based Violence

Strategies:

Provide access to affordable menstrual hygiene products.

Advocate for policies addressing period poverty and supporting victims of gender-based violence.

Conduct community workshops and awareness campaigns on sexual and reproductive health rights.

Objective: Support Families and Girls' Rights

Strategies:

Provide financial assistance and support to families in need.

Empower girls through educational initiatives and mentorship programs.

Advocate for legislative measures protecting girls' rights and ensuring equal opportunities.

Objective: Education and Gender Parity

Strategies:

Promote access to education for girls, including addressing barriers such as gender discrimination.

Implement Accelerated Learning Programs to support girls who have missed regular schooling.

Engage parents and communities in prioritizing girls' education and challenging traditional gender roles.

Objective: Sensitize the Public and Mobilize Support

Strategies:

Collaborate with local media outlets for awareness campaigns and educational programs.

Organize events and initiatives to engage the public in supporting girls' rights.

Partner with businesses and organizations to fund and implement projects aimed at empowering girls in Nairobi slums.

By pursuing these objectives and implementing targeted strategies, we aim to address the systemic challenges facing girls in Nairobi slums, empower them to assert their rights, and create pathways for a brighter future.
