Build a SkillsHub for 3000Youth with Disabilities

By Maropeng Ngoepe | Project Leader

Since our last update, Socio Skills Foundation has continued to make inspiring progress toward the SkillsHub for 3,000 Youth with Disabilities. The SkillsHub will serve as a dynamic, inclusive training center where young people with disabilities can gain access to digital education, entrepreneurship tools, and life skills that prepare them for employment and innovation.

We are excited to share that we have secured 10 hectares of land in Limpopo, a major step toward constructing the first SkillsHub facility in South Africa. This land will become the heart of our vision  a safe, accessible, and empowering space for youth with disabilities to learn, create, and collaborate. While we continue raising funds for the construction phase, we have begun architectural planning, consultations with disability organizations, and environmental assessments to ensure the facility meets inclusive design standards.

Over the past months, our outreach programs have reached over 450 youth with disabilities through digital literacy and entrepreneurship workshops. We have piloted sessions on inclusive typing, VR learning tools, financial literacy, and online safety, enabling participants to gain practical skills for the digital economy. Our Disability Digital Bootcampcontinues to be a key success, offering hands-on training both in-person and via accessible virtual reality for learners with hearing, visual, and mobility disabilities.

One participant, Nthabiseng, a 21-year-old from Rustenburg living with a mobility impairment, joined the program having never used a computer. Today, she types confidently using our adaptive one-handed tools and has launched a small online beadwork business. Her story represents the transformation your support makes possible turning barriers into opportunities.

As we move forward, we aim to expand training to an additional 1,000 youth by mid-2026 and begin the first construction phase of the Limpopo SkillsHub. Every donation helps us bring this inclusive vision closer to life  a South Africa where youth with disabilities can thrive, innovate, and lead confidently.

Thank You from Socio Skills Foundation
