Sky Is The Limit School Has Reopened!

This past October has certainly helped to lift spirits at Sky Is The Limit. In Uganda, lockdown restrictions lifted and schools reopened, meaning all 370 children who attend Sky Is The Limit School were able to return to continue their long-awaited lessons and see friends again. Hand wash stations have been built outside each of the seven classrooms and the dining hall, and masks have been given to children and staff to make sure everyone can stay as safe as possible.

However, it seems that with the lockdown being lifted in Uganda, cases have begun to slowly rise again. Since March this year, Uganda has experienced 23,200 confirmed cases and 207 deaths.

Rose, The Director of Sky Is The Limit says, “For now we are alright, and just trying our best to survive in a hard situation. Corona cases in the local communities are increasing, so we are a bit worried as the children come from these places. We are placing control measures as best we can here at Sky Is The Limit, but cases around us are still rising.”

Although the children are enjoying being back at school, Sky Is The Limit is now having to face additional challenges while still overcoming the hardships that coronavirus brought.

Heavy rains have caused localized flooding and have caused much of the farm at Sky Is The Limit to become waterlogged, destroying many of their crops for the season. Food prices at market are still very high due to shortages, which only serves to add additional challenges for Sky Is The Limit in maintaining the health and wellbeing of the children that attend its school and receive school meals.

The truck, which is used for daily transport around the communities is also breaking down every day as it is old and can no longer cope with the demand of long journeys on bad roads. Funds for repairs are diminishing, and causing extra stresses on the Sky Is The Limit community when things are already hard due to the effects of Covid-19 in Uganda.

Sky Is The Limit is doing their very best with limited resources right now to ensure the disadvantaged children who attend the school stay as safe and as healthy as possible. Measures are in place to limit the spread of the virus, but with so many children at the school living with HIV/Aids, they are prone to opportunistic infections and so are more susceptible to contracting covid-19.

Please, give Sky Is The Limit your support this Christmas. Donate today and help these children to stay as healthy as possible during such a challenging time.

The team at Ecologia, and all at Sky Is The Limit would like to extend festive Christmas greetings to all of their supporters. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

For all that you do to help these children, please know that you have our deep heartfelt thanks.

With gratitude,

Robyn and the Ecologia Team
