Our new group of youths (130) started their year-long bespoke training programme in January.  This programme works in blocks of hands-on apprenticeship training with a local artisan/business operator interspersed with blocks of theory classes in local vocational colleges.  The first block of training has completed and the youths are in the next phase now.  This dual approach model has been tested over the past couple of years and found to be incredibly successful.  Youths who would otherwise never be able to attend a third level educational institution get the benefit of theory classes (and a graduation ceremony) whilst being able to combine that with a hands-on apprenticeship that not only gives them on the job training but enables them to earn a little bit of money.  Earning a little money is a big incentive to staying the course - many youths drop out of longer vocational training courses as they have no income during the course.

We also have introduced another local training college into the mix recently.  Being able to attend local training negates the need for transport time and costs and makes it much easier to attend training and classes.

We still have a way to go until graduation in December but so far everything is running smoothly and we look forward to another successful year in this programme.  Thank you all for your support.
