Dear Partner,
We are excited to share the latest on our work addressing hypertension (high blood pressure) in the communities we serve.
This quarter, we continued to reach households by screening for hypertension, providing education, and helping people prevent and manage the disease through medication and lifestyle changes, like reducing salt intake, staying active, and attending regular check-ups.
In 2019, Lilian Gatwiri, a young mother and one of our beneficiaries, was diagnosed with high blood pressure. Due to stigma from her peers, she stopped treatment, and her condition worsened. After attending one of our community health outreach events, Lilian received education about her condition and was referred to Kiairugu Dispensary. A Community Health Promoter (CHP) from her area now follows up with her regularly, encouraging her to stay on treatment and adopt healthy habits.
Today, Lilian is managing her condition well. She’s healthy, working at a local butchery, and able to support her family.
Thanks to your support, we are saving lives through early screening. This quarter, we have screened 53,018 people for hypertension and referred 2,646 for follow-up care.
We sincerely appreciate your continued generosity, which is ensuring these life-saving efforts reach more individuals and families in the communities we serve. We look forward to sharing more updates and successes with you in our next quarterly report.
Warmly,
Ann Ngunjiri, Communications Office
