We have been blessed with funds to construct 8 beds by a youth group from Touching Heart, an organization based in Herndon, VA. The children had a movie marathon, selling tickets and treats. Because of their efforts, we are in the process of bringing in 17 orphans who have been on our waiting list. Still more wait, and will be admitted as beds become available.
This has been a hard year for our ministry. Prices of all commodities have escalated, and as our kids grow, so do their appetites! It has been a good year, however. We have 16 young people who will be graduating from secondary school; quite an accomplishment in a country where many children aren't even able to finish primary school. They will be moving on to take their places in the community, and we will bring in more orphans to take their places. The county of Homa Bay, the location of our project, has over 222,000 orphans. The needs are huge, but each child we are able to take assures a future for that orphan.
As a project that hopes to continue forward, we are hopeful you will share our vision for these forgotten children.
