This project will provide the first-ever shelter and a comprehensive package of care & support to a cycle of 100 of the thousands of homeless children orphaned and displaced by the ongoing arms conflict in the English speaking part of Cameroon, with the aim of reuniting them with their families in the short and long runs.
Arms conflict between government security forces and non-state armed groups in the English speaking part of Cameroon has triggered humanitarian needs with over 8,732 (62% are Children) internally displaced and now seeking refuge in the capital city of Bamenda (OCHA - June 2018 report). Unfortunately, current relief efforts do not target orphans who suffer from homelessness & no parenting for protection or provision of survival needs as shelter, food, potable water, clothing, healthcare, etc.
Through partnership with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, local councils and media under the current Government humanitarian plan, this project will provide and sustain the first-ever shelter-home & a continuum package of care and protection to homeless orphans/children in Bamenda. With a capacity for 100 children, the shelter will run a cycle for more intakes upon the successful reunification of its previous residents with their families.
The project will provide shelter and reunite homeless orphans/children with their families, thus restoring hope, joy and trauma-relief for the child & family. Furthermore this intervention will increase government's capacity to meet the humanitarian needs of Internally Displaced Persons, especially homeless orphans/children during this period of crises.
