Project Report | Dec 4, 2014
Shelter home advances (september-november)

By Regina Aguirre (translation: Jose Delgado) | Shelter Homes Programm Coordinator

Environmental workshop for both shelters
Environmental workshop for both shelters

The Shelter Home program has developed an Environmental Care Project, having this quarter, concentrated on two aspects:
1. Awareness and reinforce the target population about the importance of environmental stewardship, to this effect, we have developed workshops related to those topics.
2. Use of the garden as a place of both learning and growing ecosystem of plants to plant and harvest vegetables and herbs products that can be used in the daily intake of the shelter's population. It has been implemented a small organic garden in both shelters (also in the boys shelter).

Developing these two aspects are vital issues for the project, and which form the basis of future actions.

The response we have had from beneficiaries has been very positive as they have shown interest, involvement and commitment in activities generated by the project.

Also, the Shelter Home was visited by Maria Reina School's juvenile chorus and orchestra on thursday november 13th. This event was a speciall moment for all the girls -and also the boys from the other shelter we have- for sharing musical and cultural experiencies with other teenagers. Maria Reina School's juvenil chorus director, Doria Renteria, encouraged the boys and girls from the shelters to sing peruvian songs.

Very much thanks for your cooperation!
