Hope After The Fire...
![We are the Hope]()
We are the Hope
After the fire in November 2016, we have been working to normalise the children's experience in the CCC from our temporary venue. We have a team of dedicated child care providers and play therapists to ensure that all the children's physical and emotional needs are taken care of during this transition.
The ground breaking ceremony for the rebuilding of our burned down CCC will begin this year however the date is still unknown. The rebuilding will be conducted by a renowned national developer as well as their team of service providers, as a CSR effort. The new CCC would have the capacity to shelter a total of 20 children in comparison to our temporary CCC which can only shelter a maximum of 10 children. We would have a designated safe space for play therapy and child counselling sessions, as well as play and study rooms. We would also have homeschool teachers visiting the CCC daily to ensure that the children have continued access to education during their stay at the CCC.
Also, based on the architectural drawings of the new CCC, it would be the first environment-friendly CCC in Malaysia, and this would enable us to educate the children in our care about recycling, composting, and other issues related to the environment. With the upgraded facilities of the new CCC, we hope and aim to empower the children in our care through services of higher quality and increased child participation.
The new Child Care Centre brings hope and joy to WAO and all what we have achieved over the years despite the speedbumps. We will still keep striving to support more survivor women and their children of violence in Malaysia.
