The Women Welfare Foundation is pleased to report continued steady progress in our climate literacy and women’s leadership initiative during the first quarter of 2026 (January–March).
In these three months, we successfully reached 2 additional schools in Bardiya and Kailali districts, conducting interactive climate literacy workshops for 180 new direct beneficiaries (primarily adolescent girls and women). These sessions focused on climate change impacts, sustainable farming practices, disaster preparedness, and leadership skills to help women and girls actively participate in environmental decision-making.
We also organized a Youth Climate Leadership Workshop, where 45 girls developed simple community action plans on waste management and water conservation. These plans were presented to local stakeholders, strengthening community ownership and encouraging girls to take visible leadership roles.
- Total climate-literate beneficiaries now exceed 2,080, with many continuing to adopt eco-friendly habits such as improved waste management, kitchen gardening, and forest conservation.
The Women Welfare Foundation remains strongly committed to integrating gender perspectives into climate action and supporting women and girls to drive meaningful environmental change in Nepal. Despite growing challenges, we are making consistent progress with the generous support of our donors and partners.
