Shattering The Silence Tour/Documentary Project

By Connie Lee | Founder/President

We left home August 2012, to begin the Shattering The Silence Tour and Documentary Project, at FACSAFoundation.org. We are currently in Ottawa, Canada, on the Spring part of the tour, which is about our 40th stop of the tour. Since we left home, we have seen some amazing things.

  1. We have seen more survivors sharing their stories, promoting their own helaing, and inspiring others as well.
  2. We have seen more organizations collaborating to combat this multi-generational epidemic. At the end of our conferences we host a Brainstorming Q & A, which helps share resources, knowledge, and creativity from across the country and brings solutions, for us all to serve our communities better.
  3. We have been made aware of the human trafficking problem, which is  now a 32 Billion Dollar industry, where parents are selling their children for prostitution, out of poverty, for drugs, for porn rings, as favors to friends, and a lot of it is happening in the U.S.A. and Canada. According to American University, Laura Hadsner, the U.S. produces 50% of all global porn; which is usuing our children. So, how do they get access, you may ask? Perpetrators are mostly in the homes and communities, and why most survivros do not disclose until the reach a safe zone. For some kids, that could take years, and yet for some others, they do not live that long for hope to arrive. If someone is threatened they love and care about, or thier loves are threatened, they will not tell, and why we have to provide safer environments for our children. Kids prostituting on the streets, many times come from these homes, or they are kidnapped and forced to serve as prostitutes, as early as 12 years old. Your call to police can help get them home safely. It is better to provide preventiona and education, than it is to fix a broken adult or a broken child. The abuse will affect every aspect of their lives, school, work, relationships, with issues of not being able to trust authority, or our mates; not being able to set healthy boundaries; suffering from PTSD, Depression, Chemical dependendencies, over eating, or being a workaholic.
  4. The Shattering The Silence Tour is creating a paradigm shift of child sexual assault and human trafficking. For survivors to talk, they are knocking down the power the perpetrator has over them, through fear, shame, and degradation. This is the only thing, where talking can create so much healing. Survivors see they are not only taking their power back, but the truth, which is they had the power all along; and their voice does make a difference.
  5. Join the Shattering The Silence Tour and Documentary Project, at FACSAFoundation.org The children are counting on you. facsasavethechildren@hotmail.com
  6. Your donations help us provide prevention/education materials in each city, as well as fuel and food to make it to our next donation. Thank you for your love and continued support.
