GSCH Students Shine Academically

In past reports I have bragged about the high marks children liveing at the Good Samaritan Children's Home receive in high school.  The August report from the home passed on some specifics that make me think we should have some bumper stickers created that say,  "My Children are the Best Students in St. Mary's Educational Centre Lang'ata and Rubate High!"

Samuel Keziak Kogi was named "Best Boy in the School" last year at St. Mary's, earning A's in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, History, Business Studies, Chemistry, and Computer Studies, while earning A- in English and Kiswahili.  Eunice Wambier was the top student at Rubate High School. With scores like that how can we turn our backs on these students and other young people in high school from the Good Samaritan Children's Home?

The orphanage is building an upper floor to the permanent block structure at the home. While this is exciting news, and the building is being paid for by The Village Care International organization; Merci Thuo, director of the home worries about how to afford bedding for the new space.

Through donating to Project 6163 and 7377 you can take some of the pressure off the need for tuition and shoes, and Mrs. Thuo can find funds for bedding.

Don't forget to donate on GlobalGiving's Bonus Day on Oct. 9, 2013 starting at one minute past midnight Eastern Daylight Time. Your donation will be matched at 30% if you get it in while there are still funds (which run out in about 4 hours).

I sign off with one of the drawings from the orphanage.
