We at Fabulous African Fabrics were thrilled to receive a check from Global Giving for $1848 for our Bonus Day earnings in June. You have sent two more teens to high school..
The tuition bill is always a great worry for the director of The Good Samaritan Home, Mercy Thuo. Mrs.Thuo knows the value of education, and she is proud of the young people who have studied very hard to qualify for high school. Each year it is a scramble to find the funds for sixty or so children to go to school. Depending on the teen, it may be to the local secondary school, a trade school, or a private boarding school. Boarding schools sometimes offer scholarships to needy children. But none-the-less one thousand dollars needs to be found for each child--$60,000 to $100,000 per year.
When the tuition is not raised, the youngest children stay at the orphanage, repeating their 8th grade studies so they will retain the information to help them succeed when their turn for tuition money arrives.
Thank you for your generosity. Two more teens will be educated and happily go off to school.
