Welcome to our new CCEdFund supporters!
Thank you so very much for your support of our new project on Global Giving - to provide scholarships to impoverished Cambodian students living with their families in Siem Reap. Because of your support, we are able to accept nominations from local partner schools and provide full scholarships to qualified students who live at home.
So far, during the 2013 - 2014 academic year, we are providing scholarships to four students to attend the Florida International School, one student to attend the International School of Siem Reap and the New York International School, and one student to attend ACE and the New York International School. Please note that we provide scholarships to many other students who live in children's centers but your support helps us provide scholarships directly to students who are able to remain at home!
In this report, we will share information about the four students who attend the Florida International School. CCEdFund partners with the Florida school because it is locally owned and operated and aspires to the highest level of academic study for its students in both Khmer and English education. It is a private school and so regular teacher attendance, high quality supplies, and academic rigor are ensured by the dedicated school director. CCEdFund is passionate about ensuring that our students receive scholarship that will allow them to study in both languages to ensure that our students are able to succeed in Cambodia upon graduation. To learn more about the school, please visit: http://floridaschool.webs.com/
The four students who you have helped to send to school attend seventh grade and study in both English and Khmer. They have excelled in their studies but their families are unable to provide tuition to the Florida school for them to study. So, the school director nominated them for CCEdFund scholarships. Once they receive scholarships, CCEdFund's students' records are shared and reviewed with us and additional support is provided as necessary. Given the widespread level of persistent poverty in Cambodia and the poor state of the public education system, access to quality private schools is necessary for students serious about changing their life paths through education.
So, thank you very much for sharing with CCEdFund to allow these students to study for a better future and a better Cambodia! We look forward to sharing more updates with you in the next few months as the academic year comes to a close.
Warmly,
CCEdFund Team
