With the endless stream of bad news about events in the world assaulting us daily, we are so glad to be able to share some GOOD NEWS about our projects, which have been thriving, thanks to your support.
With the assistance of Love to Langa donors, the sponsored pupils at Mfuleni Early Childhood Centre have grown from strength to strength. All the pupils are excelling academically and their social skills with their peers are beyond amazing.
Their parents do have some relief financially which allows for less stress at home. The children are happy, learning more than one language. Mfuleni is the only school in the township teaching the children to be bilingual in English an Xhosa.
The school has been voted as one of the top schools in the Western Cape by the Department of Social Development.
The children performed at a concert for Social Development and came in the top three. For this event, Love to Langa sponsored the costumes.
Principal Sandra said, "Love to Langa's support for Mfuleni ECD has assisted the school on various levels. To be supported by an international charity is beyond generous. Their love for the Mfuleni community and constant support is a gift from God."
The scholarship children at Philippi Childrens' Centre are also thriving. The school focuses on Montessori and traditional teaching and this is having a positive effect on the children, both at school and home. The parents and caregivers are encouraged to engage with the children and promote confidence and independence. They are currently practicing their end of the year school concert. All scholarship children are also eligible for swim scholarships at the Love to Langa Swimming Academy.
Project Manager, Kissmea Adams said, "Love to Langa exceeded expectations with this project. It is not only giving much needed Learn to Swim lessons for children from the Philippi Children's Centre but it is also offering lessons to the community now. There are currently 90 children from the school enjoying swim lessons. Philippi Children's Centre is now the hub of the community. Residents are flocking to view the indoor heated swimming pool."
We look forward to sharing more good news with you in the future.
With many thanks for your support!
