We are very sorry to share this terrible news that two of our scholarship recipients were in a devastating car accident a few days ago. Brother and sister, Mila and Zizo, were both hurt and Zizo was in a coma but thankfully has come out of it. When Mila regained consciousness, he started asking for their father, who was killed in the crash, as was their grandmother and cousin. They had been living with their grandmother for the past two years since their mother died, with their father living in a nearby shack.
The children are now orphans but thankfully, Mfuleni ECD Principal Sandra has stepped up help. "Mfuleni ECD staff would like to take care of the children. I will act as their guardian as soon as a suitable family member is found." Sandra also said that there are two staff members who are willing to welcome the children into their homes. This is a community that takes care of their own but funds are slim and the children will have needs that will stretch the budget of whomever is able to take them.
Our donors have been sponsoring the children's education for the past two years and now we are seeking additional funds to help them through this horribly unfortunate situation.
Donations of any amount would be gratefully received.
Thanks so much for your support!
