Thanks to amazing donors like you, we are able to sponsor scholarships for 10 children at Mfuleni Early Childhood Centre in Cape Town!

Here is a update on our crew:

Mila is a boy in Grade R. Mila and Zizo are brother and sister. They live with their granny in a shack. Mila adores playing with his friends. He is very active and loves creative activities such as cut and paste and art. He is technology driven and love tablet training classes that he participates in weekly. He follows instruction without difficulty and is the apple of his teacher’s eye.

Zizo is a girl in the 3-4 year class. She is Mila's sister. She is the chatterbox in class. She is quick to raise her hand and answer questions. She has a sweet nature and very popular amongst her peers.

Lukhanyo is a boy in the 2-3 year class. His brother is Kwazi, whose sponsor is continuing to cover his primary school expenses since he graduated from Mfuleni this year. Their father passed away and they have only their mother.  They live in a shack, have no social grant and the mother works as a cleaner. Lukhanyo has a best friend, Nli.  They are very close. Lukhanyo loves music and dance.

Hloniphoile is a boy in Grade R. He is an orphan. He lives with his gran and they are dependent on her pension. They live in the backyard of a friend in a shack. Hloniphoile is the sweetest boy. He is generous with his peers by sharing whatever he has.

Liveni is a girl in Grade R. She is Liveni an orphan and lives with her gran and her brother. Her brother is currently in the hospital with an unidentifiable disease. The award for the best manners goes to Liveni. Her nickname at school is "Lady" because she is a true lady is every sense.

Lutho is a boy in the 3-4 year class. Lutho’s dad was gunned down during taxi violence. He lives with his mother who is a cleaner. Lutho is known for loving transport. When the school bus arrives, he happily runs to it for the best seat. His passion is cars and he is always playing with them.

Mpho is a girl in Grade R. Mpho’s mother passed away in December 2014. She now lives with her gran. When Mpho started school this year she was withdrawn and would not socialize with any of her peers. Due to a very dedicated Teacher, Zami, Mpho is now socializing and a true leader to her friends.

Onako is a girl in Grade R. Onako’s father is unemployed and the mom is working. The father tries to find work in the community daily.  Onako is the teacher’s pet and a true helper in class. She is currently struggling with tablet training and her teacher will be assisting him with extra classes.

Unathi is a boy in Grade R. Both of his parents are currently unemployed and are dependent on community members, family and friends for help. Unathi is a well-mannered young man. All the teachers refer to him as the “Gentleman.”

Lindokuhle is a girl in the 3-4 year class. Lindokuhle only has a mother. They live in a shack in Mfuleni but tend to move around. Lindi, as she is affectionally known, loves playing with boys, a true tomboy in the making.  She is athletic and loves being outside.  She can play for hours building sand castles in the sandpit.
