Jamie-Lee is one of the children we are now able to help, thanks to your generous support. Born on December 7, 2009, she is in the Froggies Class at Philippi Children's Centre. Jamie-Lee's mother died and despite efforts to contact him, her father is not involved, so she lives with relatives in a shack at the farm where they work.
Despite such challenges at a young age, Jamie-Lee is independent and outspoken and interacts well with her peers. Her favorite activities include painting, cutting and pasting - anything creative. "The biggest impact on her is being fed at the beginning of the school day," says her teacher Denise. Like many of the children who attend Philippi Children's Centre, Jamie-Lee comes to school hungry and the nutrition she receives during the school day is critical for her health and development.
The scholarships you support include transportation for children like Jamie-Lee, who otherwise would not have the opportunity to be in a nurturing environment during the school day. If not for you, she would likely be bored and unsupervised and possibly in danger.
We deeply appreciate your commitment to our cause and look forward to sharing updates with you in the future.
