Term 2 has begun here at the Half Day School. Since our last report many exciting things have happened, including term break and the first month of term two.
Since our last report, the students finished the first term and took their exams. All of the students passed with flying colors and some were even able to move up a grade level! This term we now have 4 different grades, allowing for students who did well at the end of the first term to advance at a faster pace. We also gained three new students since our last report. The Half Day School welcomed two new English teachers while saying good-bye to another in the past months.
The students also began planting the rice in our fields since our last report. With the help of some of our teachers, the students planted the rice saplings in the middle of September and have been watching their hard work grow into three full fields. In the next month, the students and teachers will harvest the rice to help support the lunch program. They have also begun this month to prepare the vegetable gardens. The students will plant multiple types of vegetables to give them a healthy meal while learning a life long skill!
The students are still continuing with their ocarina lessons and there are now two groups. As the holiday season is upon us, the students have begun learning some Christmas carols that they will play for the other students in a few weeks!
As the holiday season is in full swing now, all of DEPDC’s staff, volunteers, and students would like to thank all of our generous donors for their continued support.
