Education in Haiti is crucial for the long term success of the country. With illiteracy at well over 50% and with fewer than 15% of all children graduating from high school, education is the future.
But education is also very expensive. It is routine for the cost of sending one child to school to be as much as one adult can make in a year. Can you imagine spending $45,000 to send one of your children to school?
And then telling the other three kids, "I'm sorry, you can't go to school, I can't afford to send you."
We don't want to have that happen.
And thanks to you, that hasn't.
For the 2013-2014 school year, we have raised the funds to send 325 children to school! That's way beyond the 200 that we had asked you for.
Thank you for being a part of the future of Haiti. It is planting seeds that will make a difference for a life time.
We hope to begin looking forward to the 2014-2015 school year some time this spring.
Thank you for your help in making this happen!
