Connect a child to Nature through a Week of Camp!

It’s hard to believe, but the summer season is already more than halfway through! With three weeks left of the summer, we have served hundreds of children, many of whom have never attended camp before. As a Camp Manager, it’s been a joy to see so many faces light up when they discover the magic of playing in the creek, or when they excitedly tell their parents about a game they learned. 

This summer, we awarded over $10,000 in scholarships and we reached more campers than ever before. This was the inaugural summer for our brand new camp location: Historic Yates Mill County Park. Our camps at Yates Mill are called Junior Naturalist camps, and they lean into concrete nature education through hands-on learning, experimentation, and expert guest speakers. We ran five weeks of Junior Naturalist Camp this summer, and we’re thrilled with the outcome! This summer, we also continued our successful partnership with El Centro Hispano, a local, Latino-led organization serving the Triangle Community. Through this partnership, we were able to provide scholarships for twenty children from the El Centro community to attend our camps cost-free. 

As I look ahead to the last few weeks of summer camp, I’m incredibly proud of the work that we have accomplished. We have served more campers than ever before, enhanced our programs, and strengthened community partnerships.
