Busy times here at Chelsea Hutchison Foundation. As we begin October, we are in the process of closing out (10) STOMP Out Epilepsy and SUDEP Awareness Walks across the country. You can imagine all of the paperwork that goes along with this and it is a big task for a small volunteer staff. We are gearing up for Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland 2015 to which we have awarded 7 famlies with all-expense paid vacations to attend. We will also be roviding approx. 25 one day passes for local Californians who live with the stresses of epilepsy to particpate. Many of these families are single-parent families or one-income because of the care that is needed. For more information, Click here
We just paid our 83rd seizure-response dog grant - that is more 6 since our last update in July. We thank you for your support of this project because without your support and others like you, it would not be possible. We hear amazing stories from our grant recipients. Here are a few I'd like to share.
"Patches has alerted many times in the middle of the night to seizures. She has also braced and gently taken my husband down to the floor on occasion. She is his guardian angel and takes a bit of worry off my plate because I can't always be at home with him." Amber M.
"A person with epilepsy walk a lonely road and the service dog provides a copanion thats always there and loves them no matter what. I believehe service dog saves lives in ways other than just seizure response." Jennifer R.
"Jessie has alerted MANY times to seizures! On several occasions my daughter has fallen out of bed while having a seizure and Jessie not only barked to get my attention, but would like her face until she came out of it." Veronica F.
