Thank you, again, for supporting The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation. When you support us, you make a big difference in the lives of those struggling with seizures and epilepsy. We are a very grass-roots, volunteer-based Foundation that is committed to getting relief right into the hands of those who need it. We aren't bit, but we are mighty and determined to minimizing (or eliminating) the number of seizure-related deaths that occur each year in the US.
Epilepsy affects over 3 million Americans of all ages - more than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson's disease - combined. Almost 500 new cases of epilepsy are diagnosed every day and it is estimated that up to 50,000 Americans die from seizures and seizure-related causes every year in the United States.
To date, Chelsea Hutchison Foundation has provided 49 grants for seizure-response dogs and 120 movement monitors. We receive 3-5 requests each week for help so your continued support is so appreciated.
The 4th Annual Chelsea's Epilepsy Walk for SUDEP Awareness will take place on September 22, 2013. What started as a small walk in Littleton, Colorado has grown to include 6 separate locations across the United States. Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and (2) locations in Virginia. In addition, for those who are not able to walk with us at one of our physical walks, we will offer opportunities to be a virtual walker or create a virtual team. MARK YOUR CALENDAR!
