Our primary program promotes access to quality education for 200+ young vulnerable people. Additionally, we run a primary school, a children's home, and community/garden development activities that promote positive parenting and the wellness of the children.
Kasese District in Western Uganda is going through severe economic, climatic, and civil crises. Since 2013, Kasese has been grappling with floods that often cause river banks to burst destroying roads, homes, schools, and health centers and displacing hundreds of people. The ongoing war in bordering Congo since 2014 has led to many unsupported children. More recently, injustice, inequality, and Covid 19 have adversely affected the capabilities of the government education system.
Our project has a strong community-led approach, investing in our children and youth so they may grow up free from hunger, abuse, and violence. By constructing accessible classrooms for 100s of students, providing meals, learning materials, and basic medical care for those in our children's home, and connecting those same children with our community garden and livestock projects, we help them gain knowledge and skills necessary to build sustainable futures for themselves.
Worth A Haven Foundation will produce the ultimate goal to give a home, quality education, and equal opportunities to the vulnerable children of the Rwenzori Region. We believe young people can tap into their own unique talents when inspired. Our history is proof of what we, ordinary people, are capable of when hope helps us to help one another.
