Hello SeatPackers
Greetings from Kampala, Uganda. We are delighted to share that 120 Children have received SeatPacks since September this year from individual donors around the world. Every SeatPack means a child in a neglected school can not attend lessons with the basic facilities of sitting and writting during class. The adolescent girls also receive a period hygien toolkit to aid all-month round school attendance.
Budatu Primary school in Eastern Uganda: 60 Children supported with SeatPacks.
We learned through a teacher that Budatu Primary school had a population of 250 children sharing 5 desks amongst themselves. On arrival to the school, seeing the children using logs of wood and stones inside their classrooms to assimulate furniture to sit on during lessons was difficult to take in. We were instantly more deligted to be there with 60 SeatPacks, knowing that the primary 5 children are going to have an improved learning experience for the next 4 to 5 years.
At Budatu Primary, we learned that the community has no electricity and so homework and home study is not possible for the children. This is very common in Uganda where up to 80% of the country is not connected to the electricity grid.
Back at the Zetu Foundation workshop, we decided to join the renewable energy efforts across the continent by adding a solar panel and rechargeable light to every SeatPack begining 2025.
Dscovery Primary school in Central Uganda: 50 Children supported with SeatPacks.
At Discovery Primary School in Kampala, Makindye Division, Primary 3,4,5 and 6 now have classrooms with basic furniture available. 90% of the students are orphans in a home nearby, a fact we were not aware of while choosing the school.
ShareCARD run a profile onboarding of all children that received SeatPacks that day. Using a remote built data tracking system, we are keen to see what this new reality does to daily attendance, performance and expression of each child over the next 4years.
By far the most rewarding experience of any social entrepreneur is the joy that the children share when much needed support finally arrives. I wish each of you a chance to experience such honest gratitude at some point in this lifetime! Not a SeatPacker yet? Easy, become one here.
We’ve got a lot more success to celebrate together
