As we head into July, SEA is eager to kick off our summer SEA Creatures program. In fact, we are so excited about it that although the program officially runs July 5 – August 5, we couldn’t resist getting an early start by visiting a few camps in June, including the STEM camp at Complex. They will be joining us again during the first week of July for a snorkeling lesson and tour.
Each year we choose a couple of topic areas for camps to choose from for their visit from our SEA Creatures educators. This year’s topics are: Marine Debris, Native Plants and Wildlife, Snorkel lesson and tour, Cultural Arts, and Conservation Resilience/Climate Change. There is something on that list for everyone!
We have been able to add and additional component this year: between the donations we received and the grant money we have supplemented it with, we will be able to assist with transportation costs for campers to attend field trips. This has been a stumbling block in the past as many camps operate on a shoestring budget.
Thank you for supporting this program and we look forward to updating you when the SEA Creatures program is in full swing!
