Every school day, hundreds of children in rural Niger State walk long, unsafe distances just to attend class. Many arrive exhausted, late, or miss school altogether. This project will provide safe transportation through school buses and bicycles for 250 vulnerable children each year. Your support will remove a major barrier to education, improve attendance, protect children from risks on the road, and give them a better opportunity to learn and succeed.
Distance and unsafe roads prevent many rural children from accessing education. Some walk several kilometers in extreme weather, while others stay home because the journey is too difficult or dangerous. Girls face added risks of harassment and insecurity, contributing to higher dropout rates. These daily challenges reduce attendance, weaken academic performance, and keep children trapped in cycles of poverty and limited opportunity.
With your support, this project will provide school buses and bicycles that enable 250 children to travel safely and consistently to school. Trained drivers, safe travel routes, and community involvement will help protect students throughout their journey. By removing transportation barriers, children can attend school regularly, arrive ready to learn, and focus on building brighter futures instead of worrying about the journey.
Safe transportation creates lasting educational opportunities. Every year, 250 children will have reliable access to school, leading to improved attendance, stronger academic performance, and lower dropout rates. Girls will be better protected and more likely to complete their education. As communities embrace and sustain the transport system, more children will remain in school, unlocking opportunities that strengthen families and contribute to long-term community development.
