Introduction and Overview
Yengat Birhan Charity Organization has made notable job in empowering needy school children and marginalized women by providing skills training and economic support. By addressing major challenges and fostering resilience, the organization continues to enhance the well-being of children and women and their families. Moving forward, Yengat Birhan is dedicated to promoting sustainable change through innovative approaches and strong collaborative partnerships.
Primary Focus Areas Include:
Academic Assistance: Supplying educational materials, organizing tutorial sessions, and providing snacks to enhance school attendance and foster student engagement.
Health and Hygiene Initiatives: Conducting health education programs and distributing essential hygiene products to promote better daily well-being of both children and moms.
Food and Nutritional Aid: Meeting children’s nutritional needs to combat hunger and prevent undernutrition.
Medical Insurance Coverage: Offering health insurance and renewing every year to ease the financial burden of medical costs.
Psychological support: Offering various events such as celebrating holidays, educational award to encourage and uplift students.
Yengat Birhan Charity Organization adopts a holistic, child-centered approach that combines educational support, health initiatives, and nutritional assistance to address the varied needs of vulnerable children and their families. The organization currently serves 51 school-aged children along with their mothers and households, as well as having 20 women on the process to engage in income-generating activities (IGAs). Through this integrated support system, Yengat Birhan seeks to reduce vulnerabilities, including the financial burdens associated with medical expenses. By leveraging community-driven solutions, building strategic partnerships, and implementing innovative programs, the organization fosters resilience and creates sustainable opportunities for learning, growth, and overall well-being, ensuring a lasting impact for both children and their caregivers.
Major Achievements
Educational Support:
we were teaching character formation classes based on our Character Development Manual to ensure compliance and alignment with national educational objective. We keep to teach the school children two times per week, on every Monday and Thursday form 3:30to 5: 00 including snack time by dividing the 51 students in to two group per week at Morning Light library, and we provide Snack always before the tutorial class.
The character development and life skills classes are delivered by two individuals, including a Yengat Birhan charity staff member. We hope this will help facilitate a more integrated character transformation and development approach, further enhancing the students’ academic achievement, personal growth, and moral foundation.
During this period, we have also been recruiting teachers and preparing the updated manual. Additionally, we provided educational materials support.
Nutrition Support and health services support:
In this quarter, Yengat Birhan Charity Organization provided essential food items 5 kg wheat flour and one litter cooking, which cost Birr 3,600/student to enhance food security and to improve nutritional intake. Additionally, we provided sanitary pads for the girl students with health education for both students and their moms in this period.
Pyhcosocial Support:
During this period, we continued our support for two students who have behavioral challenges and we helped them through individual counseling by identifying root causes, providing personalized guidance, and setting practical improvement strategies. By addressing both emotional well-being and academic needs, we made discussion both with students and children’s family’s/moms separately in order to supporting students in building resilience and maintaining motivation in their learning process.
Meet the very needy children needs
During this period, we provided support for two students family, who needs additional support as their situation and provide Birr 3,000/each student for support their single mom to purchase essential food items/ to pay the monthly house rent in order to keep the students in school.
Challenges Faced
The organization faced significant challenges this quarter due to rising inflation, increasing costs, and limited financial resources, operating under a reduced budget following the conclusion of a donor partnership. Internal staffing challenges further impacted operations including reporting. Recruitment for skilled personnel, including an accountant, has been difficult, as qualified candidates often exceed our budget. While strengthened community partnerships and strategic planning have helped mitigate some difficulties, expanding and diversifying funding sources remains a critical priority.

Yengat Birhan Charity Organization has made substantial progress in enhancing the well-being of vulnerable children by addressing critical needs in education, health, and nutrition. These integrated efforts have fostered both academic achievement and personal development. Moving forward, the organization remains dedicated to broadening its impact through innovative strategies and strengthened partnerships.
