This is the project report of YengatBirhan Charity Organization on school support for 130 orphan children from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Report period from September – December, 2023
Introduction
Yengat Birhan Charity organization is a local non-governmental and non-profit organization that works on children education, women empowerment and health since 2016.
On this reporting period, we performed different activities under the school support project for the 130 (65 female and 65 male) school children. We provided tutorial class three days a week, including ethics class every other week alternatively with English free speaking. We provided it with snack since students took tutorial class after school.
In general, we provide the following support for all 130 school children in this reporting period:
The new tutorial classes that planned to start on February will be focused on English, Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and Ethics and we are still planned to works with the collaboration of Tesfa Birhan governmental Secondary school and have the flowing points:
Here is the class room arrangement and number of students in each class together with all 85, the additional 41
and 21 non sponsored students from the other group:
- KG to grade 2 = total 10 students
- Grade 3 = total 18 students
- Grade 4 = total 11 Students
- Grade 5 = total 13 Students
- Grade 6 = total 21 Students
- Grade 7 = total 13 students
- Grad 8 = total 32 Students
- Grade 9 = total 16 Students
- Grade 10 = total 12 Students
Total all together students, 146. One student grade 11 preferred to study at home with the supportive materials.
Grade: 4, 5, 9 and 10, Tutorial classes will be provided on every Saturday starting from the Month of January year 2024 (From
3:00 – 6:30 Local Time, (9:00am to 12:30pm), including snack time) and
Grade: KG to grade 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8,
Tutorial Class will be provided on every Tuesday and Thursday from the Month of
January year 2024 (From 9:30 – 11:30 Local Time, (3:30pm to 5:30pm) including snack time). Please refer the time table.
On this quarter the Ethics Class topics were:
The students regularly doing sport training every Saturday in the afternoon at Biruh Tesfa school but girl students not able to play because we didn’t provide sport wear for girls’ students because of budget constraints.
Regarding health-related support, we could covered health insurance fee for 130 students’ family birr 1000/childe family and that helps to get medical help of all the family members and we able to provide hygiene items like soap 250 mg 3 piece, hair oil 125 ml for children and sanitary pad for 41 girls as the quarterly plan.
We also could provide parenting training for children family and the staff also attended a training name project management in this quarter.
We keep also purchased different food items like milk powder, peanut butter, fruit Jam for 4 different students, who needs additional support and we keep buying some food items weekly and paying electricity bills regularly for two students.
