School Support for 130 orphan children-Addis Ababa

This is a project report on school support for 80 orphan children Addis Ababa
Dear our respected partner,
As you know the focus of the organization is to reach marginalized children and families especially single mothers who are struggling to support their children and child headed family (orphan) who lost their parents and become responsible for their younger siblings. The main support areas includes: supporting children’s mothers in income generating activities; provide school materials and tutorial class for school children with snack and preventive health education for both group to create health seeking behaviors’.
Currently, the organization is working to assist 58 underserved women to engage in income generating activities and to support 134(67 male and 67 female) children of Yeka sub-city Wereda 08, who is vulnerable to school drop-out and assist to successfully completion of their education. The school support includes: School material, tutorial class on basic subjects, English and Mathematics with snack three days per week.
Most of our organization activities are managed by freelancers and volunteers, from all professions and community workers and the majority of the organization support comes from in country contributions such as members, individuals, social group, companies, and institutions. However, the organization has a good track record in effective and efficient utilization of limited resources which are collected mainly from local including the contribution of concerned and good hearted citizens.
In this Ethiopian new year, 2020/2021, we planned to support 134 school children, 67 girls and 67 boys with school materials and tutorial classes with snack , unfortunately, because of the finance limitation that the organization face, we are addressing only 80 needy students.
The ongoing activities of the school support program in this quarter was more focused on tutorial classes of English, Mathematics and ethics as usual. We managed the tutorial class by grouping the students in three class, which ranging from KG to Grad 8. It is because of financial limitation.
We could also providing snack: milk with bread of Fafa relief two days in a week and “Chechebsa” Traditional local food which prepared from Fafa relief and butter with tea one day in a week for our students before the classes. Our tutorial class teachers are all par timers and volunteers and they tried to provide for the students issues which did not covered by the regular class.
Students dropped out rat reached very low and the academic performance becoming better when we camper it with their previous performance because of the support we provide. The change we observes on them is not only on the academic performance but also on social interaction and public speaking too.
It is all done by the contribution of you, we really apparition your support so fare in changing the life of needy children’s, without your contribution we couldn’t do the job.
In this quarter because of the COVID – 19 pandemic many of our school children and their family suffer in many ways there for by the Grace of God, we could provide the following food items for each 58 school children’s family: wheat flour 5kg, oil 1 liter, pasta 2 piece, tea bag 1 (100gm), life by soap 8 piece, face mask, 2 piece. They are very happy and thankful for what they have received as COVID 19 support since most of them were not able to job as a daily laborer.
