This time we bring you a story from Raichur from the south Indian state of Karnataka. We all know childhood is about fun, learning and creativity. Our team recently connected with children of Devadasi and Lambani community, (most socially excluded communities) in Mudgal, Raichur district of Karnataka. Our goal was simple; we wanted these children to have fun and create memories in the process of learning. Working as groups and individuals they took up various activities, performing skits on water conservation and environment and expressing their dreams and thoughts on different topics and cultural performances etc.
Goonj applauded and awarded the active and sincere participation of these students by reaching 860 comprehensive school kits to them under its School to School initiative. Given as an award these kits act not only as confidence boosters but also instill a sense of achievement and pride in them and motivates them to do better in future as well.
‘School to School’ is one of Goonj’s flagship initiatives that focuses on ensuring that children in rural India have better access to basics of learning material by channelizing resources from urban schools. Every contribution directed towards this initiative motivates a child to learning.
