Fonabec is currently making great efforts to promote studies of the 8th generation students of Senior High School in the “Centros Comunitarios de Aprendizaje Fonabec” (CODAF Centers) located in 8 communities of the Mexican Republic, which are Magdalena Contreras (Mexico City) Ezequiel Montes, Colón (Querétaro) San Pedro Amuzgos (Oaxaca), Playa Azul, Lázaro Cárdenas (Michoacán), Tetitla (Mexico State) and Tezonapa (Veracruz).

In this way we carry out a Fundraising Campaign during the last two months of the year 2018, in framework of the Crowdfunding Accelerator Program of GlobalGiving International.

Our Fundrasing campaign was aimed at providing support for:

  1. Cover payment of academic enrollment to the B@UNAM Program, a program with which we have an agreement that allows our beneficiaries to access its virtual senior high school platform.
  2. Cover the integral costs of the permanent and personalized follow up that we provide to each one of our beneficiaries, boosting their academic performance and providing psycho-pedagogical and emotional support during the time they are coursing 3rd module of their academic curriculum.
  3. Cover the costs of the implementation of a set of human training workshops, under the theme "Entrepreneurship", which will be carried out in each of the CODAF Centers that are part of this Project.

We are proud to announce that thanks to the contribution of our online donors, we obtained the amount of $ 1,342.00 USD, which is allowing us to do the following:

  • That 30 of our 8th generation high school students ensure access to the online academic platform of the B@UNAM program during a two-month period, with which they have the opportunity to advance in their study plans.

  • Among the academic achievements we must mention that the 8th generation young people, direct beneficiaries of the contributions obtained, are about to finish the second module of studies established in their curriculum.

.

  • Thanks to the support of our donors, we were able to provide a personalized follow-up service for each student. We got local managers and Fonabec supervisors to work with each of the students, providing them with academic and psycho-emotional support. The in-person follow-up is in charge of the local managers and the remote follow-up is in charge of the supervisors of FONABEC. These activities were carried out during 5 hours a day, from Monday to Friday, approximately 100 hours of monthly monitoring in each of the 8 CODAF centers.

  • We were able to carry out a human training workshop on personal finance in Mexico City, attended by 53 young beneficiaries, with the support of another of our great allies in Mexico, the Gentera Foundation. On the other hand, we are preparing the entrepreneurship workshop, which will be held in the month of April. These workshops help to complement the studies and training received by our beneficiaries

 Following steps:

We will again carry out another online fundraising campaign in June, because by that date our students will have completed their third module, and for this reason we will be pleased to count on the collaboration of our allies and donors so that our students can take the fourth and final module before their graduation in the Program

For us, it would be very important for our donors to be part of a new goal for our students.

We invite you to read testimonies and photograps of our beneficiaries included in the attachments of this report..

We are grateful to have received your support and we hope to have your participation again to continue building the dreams of our beneficiaries
