David entered our program six years ago, young and very scared .. and extremely sick. His aunt, Mary Ann, brought him to the hospital after the death of his mother. David was diagnosed HIV+ and Mary Ann agreed to care for him full-time. Through follow up and careful attention to David's needs, he is doing well and his viral load is undetectable. David and Mary Ann now look forward to the future instead of living in fear of his illness.
AFCA has been able to support David's education because of donors just like you. The changes we have seen over the years is remarkable. He came to us as a little boy and now David smiles with bright eyes, performing well in school. He started out as a member of the kid's club in the clinic and has now moved up to the senior youth support group. David is active and takes the lead most days in helping to care for other children, remembering he was once in their shoes.
Thanks to your donations to support our school project, David and many other children have a bright future and they understand that your financial support makes it all possible. With our partners on the ground, the children and their families receive the support and monitoring they need to make this a very successful project. We are changing lives day after day. David feels your love, and so do we at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS.
