School Feeding Joy for Ugandan Kids

A child cannot choose the circumstances into which they are born. Some children grow up in households where parents and caregivers struggle every day to provide food, school requirements and other basic necessities.

For these children, hunger can follow them into the classroom.

Good Cause Foundation Uganda believes that children should have an opportunity to learn without being held back by an empty stomach. Our school feeding project is designed to provide nutritious meals to vulnerable children while strengthening the connection between nutrition, education, attendance and wellbeing.

The project will establish and strengthen sustainable school feeding programs in vulnerable schools across Uganda. By providing nutritious breakfasts and/or lunches where appropriate, we aim to help children remain energized and engaged throughout the school day.

We also recognize that sustainable feeding requires more than donations. Where possible, locally sourced food can help connect schools with farmers and communities, while community participation can strengthen ownership of feeding programs.

Objectives of the Project

1. To provide nutritious meals to vulnerable school children who may otherwise attend school hungry.
2. To reduce hunger-related barriers to learning and help children remain focused during lessons.
3. To improve classroom concentration and participation by supporting children's nutritional needs.
4. To encourage school attendance and retention among children from food-insecure households.
5. To support children's health, wellbeing and development through improved access to nutritious food.
6. To create a more positive and supportive school environment where children can learn with greater comfort and dignity.
7. To establish sustainable school feeding programs that can continue benefiting vulnerable learners over time.
8. To promote local food sourcing and community participation where feasible, helping strengthen the sustainability of the program.
9. To mobilize long-term donor and partner support so that more vulnerable schools and children can benefit from school feeding.
