Dearest Donors,
We are so incredibly grateful for your love and support during Phase I of our initiative to build a Girls Empowerment Center in Nepal. As you know, 25% of all adolescent girls from the village we operate go "missing" on an annual basis and we have strong evidence to suggest they are being trafficked to India and sold into the brothels. We have been working tirelessly in the Nuwakot District to establish a system, which will prevent future girls from being lured and manipulated into leaving the safety of the village. We are in alignment with the United Nations IOM that the surest way to prevent trafficking is through education, awareness, and educational opportunity.
To date, we have completed Phase I of our Girls Empowerment Center; we have arranged the transfer of the privately donated land to the school authority, and have conducted extensive assessment through our collaborative partners on the ground. We are working tirelessly to fundraise for the remaining $30,000 USD needed to complete the construction of the empowerment center, that will include a dormitory, learning center, garden, and farm.
Additionally, I put together an expedition team last Fall and we traveled to the region in attempts to track down the 27 girls that have been missing since 2015. We have made incredibly discovery through our investigation and our rescue partners are currently looking for them based on our leads. We hope to report back to you with good news soon! We also arranged for a team to conduct self-defense workshops with teen girls, training them in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The girls said they appreciated and saw the value the workshop brought.
