Thank you again for your support of the 2014 School-2-School program! Creative Learning has three major updates on the School-2-School program for this last quarter of 2013:
First, 2013 School-2-School teachers Sam and Hannah have completed their community presentations. Last month, Sam spoke with a school-wide assembly at Lancaster Country Day School about his
experiences volunteering in rural Bangladesh at The Carter Academy in June. He also spoke at his synagogue in Lancaster about building people-to-people partnerships between America and the Muslim World. Hannah, a Teach for America Corpsmember at TW Browne Middle School in Dallas presented to her school’s Parent Teacher Association just last week. Hannah volunteered at the Sukma Bangsa school in Aceh, Indonesia this past summer.
Second, Creative Learning is pleased to announce that we have reached agreement with The Carter Academy of Bangladesh to partner together for two more years. In past years, School-2-School partnerships have officially run for a year in duration. Based upon our experiences in 2013, we’ve decided to try and extend these partnerships to further build the capacity of our partner schools overseas. Over the next two years, we plan to partner The Carter Academy with two other American schools. We plan to work with the Sukma Bangsa school in Aceh, Indonesia for a second year, too.
Third, we’re in the midst of recruiting our American school partners for our 2014 partnerships! Our application period is open until December 15, 2013. Applications are available on our website at the link below. This is a competitive opportunity and completed applications should be submitted to Maril Olson at MarilO@creativelearning.org. Please direct any questions to Maril, and please forward this opportunity to any high school or middle school educator you know who might be interested in the School-2-School program.
