Cecilia is building a future her mother never had the chance to reach.
Today, she is enrolled in a nursing program—on a path to become a healthcare provider in her community. But her story begins long before the classroom, shaped by resilience, sacrifice, and the steady support of scholastic sponsorship.
Cecilia is the first in her family to complete Senior Six. At a time when many young people in her community are forced to leave school early due to financial barriers, she has continued—step by step—because someone chose to invest in her education.
“I have someone who believes in me,” Cecilia says. “That gives me the courage to work hard every day.”
Her dream is clear and deeply rooted in her lived experience. Growing up, access to medical care was always a challenge. Clinics were far away, and getting treatment often meant long, difficult journeys.
“I discovered that in our villages people have difficulties accessing medical attention,” she explains. “I hope to build a clinic in my village so people will not have to move long distances to seek medical care.”
Cecilia’s vision is not just about her own future—it’s about changing what is possible for others.
Behind her journey is her mother, Judith.
Judith’s education ended in Primary Four after the loss of her father made school fees impossible. As a young mother, she worked tirelessly to provide for her children—first in the stone quarry, one of the most physically demanding and dangerous jobs, and later through farming and making paper bead jewelry.
Inside her home, stacks of colorful paper wait to be rolled into beads, then into jewelry, and ultimately into income. That income helps cover basic needs and contributes to her children’s education whenever possible. Every bead represents effort. Every bracelet represents opportunity.
For Judith, ensuring her children had access to education became her life’s work.
And for Cecilia, that effort—combined with donor support—has made all the difference.
While her siblings were unable to continue their education due to financial limitations, Cecilia stayed in school. Today, she is gaining the skills needed to serve others as a nurse, with plans to one day open a clinic in her village. Judith hopes to support that dream by offering her land when she graduates.
Cecilia carries not only her own ambition, but her mother’s guidance:
remember where you come from, and help others when you can.
“If I find any child or mother who is sick, I should help them… even if they cannot pay,” she says.
Her story is a powerful reflection of what scholastic sponsorship makes possible. It is not just about paying school fees—it is about creating pathways where none existed, supporting perseverance, and investing in futures that extend far beyond one individual.
Because of your support, Cecilia is not only continuing her education—she is preparing to bring care, access, and opportunity back to her community.
And because of you, another child can follow that same path.
