You can help deserving and qualified Haitian high school students with a gift to the University of Fondwa Scholarship Fund. Your gift covers tuition and fees making it possible for them to graduate with a bachelor's degree in agronomy, veterinary medicine, or business development.
Haiti desperately needs job creators rather than job seekers. The University of Fondwa educates young leaders who can create jobs in their home communities, training them in agronomy, veterinary medicine, and business development. Graduates return to their hometowns and use what they've learn to create local businesses and jobs that spark rural development. Right now though, the problem is that qualified students lack the means to pay even the modest tuition of US $3,000/year.
The University of Fondwa Scholarship Fund will remove tuition as a barrier for qualified students who are accepted at the university. The fund will award a $3,000 scholarship each year for five years to students, providing a tuition-free education. Students can then return to their home communities debt-free to develop local businesses that spark economic growth. Watch the attached video to see how one graduate started a much-needed vet clinic in his hometown, creating jobs and sparking growth.
Rural economies in Haiti can grow with talented entrepreneurs educated by the University of Fondwa. Healthy rural economies mitigate the need for people to migrate to the city -- where young people can end up in gangs -- or leave Haiti altogether on a desperate and dangerous voyage abroad. Your investment in the University of Fondwa Scholarship Fund will develop job creators in a country where so few jobs of any type exist, sparking economic growth in rural communities.
