We are very excited at SV-SLI! Our latest group of scholars are graduating from high school this June and are headed off to college. Our new scholars from Handley High and Harrisonburg High are set to be inducted into SLI. Six new scholars were selected for Handley High and nine new members were selected at Harrisonburg High. All of these kids have high GPAs, are involved in the community, and dream of going to college.
Beyond the academic preparation SLI is providing to students, we also actively work to engage our scholars in awareness of local, regional, state, national, and global issues. Scholars and mentors met for the annual Big Event Community Clean up at Skyline Middle School in Harrisonburg on April 8. Attending were 26 SLI scholars and mentors. SLI scholars completed 38 structured leadership and service hours with community partners during the academic year, bringing their total to over 100 hours in SLI’s program for the year.
We need the continued support of our donors to continue our programs! Our scholars and their families need our support to help pay for AP tests, Dual Enrollment fees, College Prep materials, and tuition itself. Thank you again for your support!
