The devastating ice and snow storm that lasted from February 13th through the 17th, caused a massive amount of water pipes to burst throughout Texas. Texans were without power and water for weeks.
Many were without the financial and physical ability to repair their homes. As the snow melted people tried to go to the store for water and food but were not successful because other people wiped out the store's supplies. Trucks that normally brought these stores their supplies were unable to bring emergency supplies. The trucks were unable to navigate the ice packed roads for 3 weeks.
Luckily we had a small supply of food and water which we took to our local veterans. We also took a Mr. Heater with a full propane tank to each Veteran, so that they could stay warm. They survived this unusual storm.
Once the roads were clear we began replacing their water pipes. Then we replaced gutters.
Our Veterans asked us to tell you "If the American Homeless Families Foundation hadn't helped me, I think I would have starved as I froze to dealth! I thank God that the people that donate to this organization have saved my life!"
If we didn't have donors like you, we never could have helped these veterans.
Thank you for all that you do to help our Veterans!!!
