Survival Packs Are Saving Homeless Veterans Lives!
I am sorry for my tardiness! I was in Flagstaff, Arizona looking for a homeless camp while it was snowing. I found it and handed out some survival packs.
Homeless Veterans are freezing to death. Much of the US is experiencing below zero degree weather and several feet of snow, putting the homeless at risk of freezing to death. 30% of all homeless die every year because of extreme weather conditions. We are trying to save as many Veterans lives as possible. Our life saving tool is our Survival Pack!
Our Survival Packs include a wet/dry heavy duty wool blanket to keep the Veterans warm and dry. It comes with a SubZero stocking hat and SubZero gloves for extreme weather, eliminating the possibility of fingers and toes amputated due to frost bite. And a $65 WalMart Gift Card that can feed one person for a month.
Many of the Veterans that received our Survival Pack have told me that they can eat for up 6 weeks. Some of them buy the cheapest tent and can still eat for 4 weeks. I asked them what kind of meals can they get for those prices and they said "I eat a lot of peanut butter sandwiches and canned soup!"
I found one homeless Veteran named Brad. On his 62nd birthday, two weeks earlier, Brad had applied for his Social Security and he was waiting for his first check. It can take up to 8 weeks to receive your first Social Security check, it can take that long just to get it through their system. I know because it took me 8 weeks to receive mine.
Brad was so happy to get the Survival Pack that he cried, which in turn made me cry, as he hugged me and said "Because of you I'm gonna make it! Thank You So Much"
Brad called me 5 weeks later to tell me "I'm in my new room! There's a bed, dresser, bathroom, table, 2 chairs, mini fridge and microwave! Plus I still have $15 left on my WalMart gift card you gave me! So I can get a pillow, washcloth and towel! I want to Thank You and the people that donate to help us homeless Veterans! Without you and your people I don't think I would have made it through the hardest time in my life! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!"
These are the emotional moments that makes your heart so full of joy for making a difference in these Veterans lives!
Without you I could not help these Veterans! You are the one's that make all this happen! I want to Thank You from the bottom of my heart!
We want to help more homeless Veterans like Brad...Please donate and share this fundraiser with your family and friends.
Thank You and God Bless You!
Cheryl
