Going back to school can be a stressful time for families who don't have a lot of money. That's why more than 70 local police officers took 150 kids shopping on Wednesday as part of their 'Shop with a Cop' program.
Over 150 Club members from across the organization went back to school this new school year with a whole new wardrobe and essential school supplies thanks to the annual Shop with a Cop event. Thanks to the generous support of Fred Meyer, the Portland Police Bureau and the Portland Sunshine Division, Club members got to enjoy a whole morning of shopping paired up with an officer of the Portland Police Bureau.
Officers met up with kids from the Boys & Girls Club at the Johnson Creek Fred Meyer store for the annual event where cops help kids pick out new clothes and shoes.
"When you're a kid, anytime you can get a nice pair of shoes and nice clothing to go back to school, it makes a big difference," said Officer Thomas Brennan.
Thank you to the many people who made this event possible, including our generous GlobalGiving donors who play a vital role in funding opportunities like these!
