A Story of Hope Amid Crisis
When the Salam Humanitarian Foundation team entered the displacement camps in central Gaza, the scene was heartbreaking. Mothers sat holding their babies, trying to soothe their hunger cries with only water or tea – anything to fill their tiny stomachs. Fatima, a young mother of twins, told us:
“I never imagined I would be unable to feed my children. My milk has dried up because I haven’t eaten enough for days. The formula is too expensive even if it exists in the market.”
Due to severe border closures and restrictions on humanitarian aid, infant formula supplies have become nearly impossible to obtain. Prices have soared beyond what families can afford. For many infants, formula is now their only lifeline, as maternal malnutrition has reduced breastfeeding options.
Recognizing this urgent need, Salam Humanitarian Foundation, in partnership with the Gaza Association for Agriculture and Environment, launched the Support for Gaza’s Children initiative. Thanks to your generous support, we delivered infant formula to the most vulnerable babies from newborn to 18 months old in two of Gaza’s largest displacement camps.
When our team handed Fatima two cans of formula for her twins, her eyes filled with tears. She whispered:
“Today, my babies will sleep with full stomachs. May God bless you all.”
These are not just cans of formula. They are hope, dignity, and life itself for children like Fatima’s twins. But the crisis is far from over. As the humanitarian situation deteriorates further, more infants are at risk of malnutrition and death every day.
Your continued support makes these life-saving interventions possible. Together, we can ensure Gaza’s children are not forgotten.
