Thousands in Gaza live with traumatic wounds, burns and infections caused by war and a collapsed health system. Without specialized care, treatable injuries turn into amputations or death. Polish Medical Mission and partner GLIA run a Wound Care Clinic at Nasser Medical Complex, Khan Younis, treating 737 patients in June 2026 alone - 80-100 daily, 7 days a week. It prevents infection, saves limbs, and gives patients a real chance to heal, recover mobility and rebuild their lives.
In Gaza, surviving an injury is only the beginning. Hospitals lack medicine, electricity and staff, while overcrowded shelters and poor sanitation fuel infection. A wound that could heal in weeks becomes a lifelong disability; a missed dressing change can trigger amputation or death. In June 2026 the clinic treated 737 complex cases - infected wounds, blast injuries, burns, diabetic ulcers. For children, the elderly and the disabled, wound care is the line between recovery and permanent loss.
PMM supports GLIA's Wound Care Clinic at Nasser Medical Complex, strengthening local capacity instead of a temporary parallel system. Every day staff treat blast injuries, burns, infected and post-surgical wounds, delivering 2,045 patient visits and 3,150 dressing procedures in June alone, for up to 100 patients daily, 7 days a week. Beyond dressings, the clinic offers infection prevention, physiotherapy, nutrition support and patient education - a full pathway from first wound to healing.
Sustaining the clinic for one year could deliver 8,000-9,000 patients treated, 25,000+ visits and 35,000+ dressing procedures - preventing thousands of infections and amputations while training Palestinian healthcare workers. Every healed wound means fewer emergency surgeries, less strain on overwhelmed hospitals, and restored dignity for patients. It means a child back at school, a parent walking again, a family spared preventable disability. Your support keeps this lifesaving service running.
