Last week, a devastating tropical storm Cristina, hit the coast of Central America.
There were 16 foot waves and severe flooding in coastal areas, impacting communities and wildlife like sea turtles. This affects the nurseries and survival of the wild animals in the area. Specifically, the turtles that are actively nesting on the beaches in Nicaragua.
We know that we have to help. It is necessary to interject now for the future of the turtle species and the success of the 231 nests currently sited on the beaches being impacted by the storm. Sea turtles are keystone species and their success impacts marine biodiversity in a chain reaction. If there are few sea turtles in the oceans after this year's storm, there will be devastating impacts on marine ecosystems that are interconnected.
With your help, Paso Pacifico would use funds to repair turtle sites. If we receive sufficient funds we could successfully save all 20,000 potential hatchlings. If we hesitate in our response, the turtles will not survive this environmental disaster. Right now, the future of these turtles is in your hands.
